How to Use Codex
A simple workflow — from signing in to downloading work you're happy with.
1
Sign in to ChatGPT
Go to chatgpt.com and sign in or create a free account. Codex lives inside ChatGPT — no separate app for cloud mode.
2
Open Codex
Enter the Codex area. Connect GitHub if your materials are in a repo, or attach / describe files and links in your task.
3
Describe the outcome
Write like you're briefing a colleague: audience, format (PDF, slides, CSV), sources, tone, and what “done” means.
4
Review the deliverable
Open previews, downloads, or diffs. Check facts, layout, and completeness — same as reviewing a teammate's work.
5
Refine together
Ask for specific edits. Codex updates the work until you're ready to present, publish, or ship.
Tips for better results
- Start with one clear deliverable — e.g. “8-slide PDF from this CSV” beats “help with my job.”
- Share brand rules once (colors, fonts, slide template) and ask Codex to reuse them.
- Say what to verify: row counts, chart totals, page count, export format.
- If the first draft is close, iterate on the brief rather than starting over.
