How do I use the Codex Client without ChatGPT sign-in?

If you cannot create a ChatGPT account or already have a DeepSeek, OpenRouter, or relay API, connect it with CC Switch. Pick your system and follow the interface—no config-file hunting.

Have an API key but don't know where it goes?

CC Switch is an open-source app with a visual interface. It writes the Codex configuration for you; prepare only the Base URL, API key, and model name.

Which system are you using?

Install CC Switch

$ brew install --cask cc-switch

  1. 01

Open CC Switch and click Codex at the top

Claude, Codex, and Gemini store separate configurations, so choose the correct tab.

  2. 02

Click + and add your API

Enter the provider's Base URL, API key, and model. Turn on local routing if it only offers a Chat endpoint.

  3. 03

    Click Enable, then reopen Codex

Wait until it shows active. A running Codex Client does not reload the new configuration automatically.

When it shows active, reopen Codex

I cannot create a ChatGPT account

Local Codex use does not have to depend on ChatGPT sign-in.

I have a key but nowhere to put it

CC Switch visually manages the URL, key, and model.

My old model is still active

Fully quit the Client or start a new CLI after Enable.

Quick diagnose

CC Switch is configured, but Codex still does not work?

Here, “no sign-in” means no ChatGPT/OpenAI account sign-in. You still need a third-party API key. Cloud tasks and account sync may be unavailable; local projects, file editing, and commands continue to work.
